These salt and pepper shakers and place mats make charming ways to bring the decor of Turkey Day to your table and the kitchen. Add a centerpiece and your table is complete for the holiday.

Decorating the Thanksgiving Table

With the first of November, my Halloween decor gets replaced by Thanksgiving decorations. It’s my kitchen table that I like to focus on first. Of course, the table linens are part of the decor. Turkeys, pilgrims and leaves all evoke the holiday, so I like to add a table cloth or place mats with one or all of those themes.

This year, it’s place mats set on my table. Accenting them with a cute set of Thanksgiving salt and pepper shakers is next on my list. Below are some of my favorite choices for both place mats and salt and pepper shakers for the holiday. Then the only addition I need is my centerpiece to complete the look.

Thanksgiving Place mats

A charming table is one of the things I enjoy, so I look for whimsical or cute place mats for the table. Your table can be set in a theme, like turkeys or pilgrims, or just have the fun of mixing them up all you like. An eclectic mix of colors and designs can be a charming way to decorate for the holidays.

Each of these placemats has matching cloth napkins available. This year, though, I am using solid colored napkins to complement the colors in my placemats. You can see more choices at Thanksgiving placemats.

Another favorite centerpiece for Thanksgiving decor is an arrangement of artificial Fall leaves. Try arranging them to spill out of a low bowl for a unique effect. Fall leaves for your centerpiece are available at your local crafts store or you can find them online. Take a look at Thanksgiving Fall Leaves  to see a variety of choices.

These are some great ideas for Thanksgiving decor at the kitchen table. The kitchen is the heart of the home and where all the activity is centered come Thanksgiving. I love the fall leaves as a centerpiece for the table and setting them on a placement sorta gives it a base.

I’d always thought about decorating my dining room table for guests to enjoy, but I never considered decorating my kitchen table for me to enjoy. When you mentioned decorating the kitchen table, it hit me. Why not do something solely for my own pleasure? Love the idea. Thanks.
